The Freelancer's Guide to Invoicing in Notion
Track invoices, payments, and clients without leaving your workspace.
I used to invoice through FreshBooks, but I hated switching between apps. Now I run everything in Notion.
Create an 'Invoices' database with fields: Client, Amount, Status (Unpaid/Paid), Due Date, and Invoice Number. Link it to your Clients database.
Use a formula to calculate days overdue. Then create a view that filters for unpaid invoices sorted by due date. You'll never miss a payment.
For the actual invoice PDF, I use a template in Google Docs and paste the Notion-generated invoice number. It's not fully automated, but it's close. And it keeps all client data in one place.
