How to Build a Keyword Cluster in Notion (No More Spreadsheet Chaos)

Stop juggling tabs. Here's a step-by-step process to group keywords by topic using a simple Notion database.

Keyword clustering doesn't need to be complicated. Most tools export flat lists that make it hard to see topical relationships. That's where a structured database helps.

Start by creating a Notion database with three properties: Keyword, Search Intent, and Parent Topic. Group keywords by shared topic by adding a 'Cluster' property (select type). Then filter by cluster to see related terms side by side.

For example, if you're targeting 'B2B CRM software', your cluster might include 'best CRM for small business', 'CRM pricing comparison', and 'CRM implementation guide'. Each maps to different funnel stages but shares a common thread.

Once clustered, set up a linked 'Content' database to assign articles to each cluster. This gives you a bird's-eye view of coverage gaps. You can also add a 'Priority' field based on search volume or difficulty, then sort by it.

The result? A content strategy that covers topics holistically, not keyword-by-keyword. And you never lose track of what's been written or planned.
