How to Build a Topic Cluster in Notion in 15 Minutes
A step-by-step guide to mapping pillar pages and supporting articles using our free template.
Topic clusters are the backbone of modern SEO. Instead of writing random blog posts, you group content around a central pillar page. This signals authority to Google and improves rankings for related keywords.
Start by choosing your pillar topic—something broad like “email marketing.” Then brainstorm 8–15 sub-topics (e.g., “subject lines,” “automation,” “A/B testing”). In Notion, create a database with columns for topic, status, and target keyword. Link each sub-topic back to the pillar page using a relation property.
Use our Topic Cluster Template to speed this up. It comes pre-configured with a database and a dashboard view. Duplicate it, enter your topics, and you’re done. The whole process takes about 15 minutes, including research.
